Uwe Heinrich Suhr

The Entrepreneur

Uwe H. Suhr was born in 1939 as the fifth child of a Hamburg family of lawyers. After completing training in foreign trade, he moved to London with his wife Ingeborg.

Alongside his international sales career, Uwe H. Suhr obtained a postgraduate degree from the Royal Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM, UK). In 1968, he became self-employed as a financial consultant in finance and real estate. The real estate business grew rapidly — initially as an independent residential broker, later as an active developer of office properties.

Since 1972, the company founded by Uwe H. Suhr has developed into the successful EUROPA-CENTER Real Estate Group, with locations in Hamburg, Bremen, Bremerhaven, Berlin, Essen, Barcelona, Eschborn, and Frankfurt am Main. His consistent effort to combine entrepreneurial and social commitment led to the founding of the EUROPA-CENTER Uwe Heinrich Suhr Foundation in 1999.

“For knowledge in service of the future” — this is the guiding principle of the EUROPA-CENTER Uwe Heinrich Suhr Foundation. This foundation statute aligns with the idea of the “Donors' Association for the Promotion of Sciences and Humanities”, which aims to sustainably improve the education and research landscape in Germany.

For this reason, the foundation joined the “Donors' Association for the Promotion of Sciences and Humanities” in Germany. Universities and research institutes are conjointly supported, talent is fostered, and the academic system is analyzed to derive recommendations for political and economical institutions. With the combined financial resources of donors and supporters, numerous initiatives are successfully implemented, for example, those promoting equal opportunities in education or teacher training.

Additionally, the EUROPA-CENTER Uwe Heinrich Suhr Foundation is a member of the ‘Waterfront e.V.’ at HafenCity University, Hamburg, as well as a member of the ‘German Foundations Association’.
