Therefore it also embraces environmental projects as well as heritage and landscape preservation programs, supporting initiatives that combine tradition and sustainability to preserve lasting values while enabling future development.

EUROPA-CENTER Uwe Heinrich Suhr Foundation cares about projects giving young adults additional perspectives for their personal development beyond the academic realm. Thus the EUROPA-CENTER Uwe Heinrich Suhr Foundation has supported the “Jugendbauhütte Hamburg” since 2023.

Under the motto “Young Hands for Old Walls,” each year five young adults restore Hamburg's oldest farmhouse (“Hufnerhaus”, Moorfleeter Deich 483), learning traditional craftsmanship and heritage conservation techniques as well as hands-on work on site.

The “Jugendbauhütten” are a project of the German Foundation for Monument Protection in cooperation with International Youth Community Services (ijgd).
