Art in Architecture

The EUROPA-CENTER Uwe Heinrich Suhr Foundation supports promising art projects and sees itself as a catalyst for new perspectives, giving an impulse for the future.

For many years the founder has been particularly interested in “Architectural Art”. Therefore it is a given that the foundation also focuses on this field. It is dedicated to enhance sites in public spaces with art, culture, and “Architectural Art”.

Vibrant Pillars

Uwe Heinrich Suhr, together with his late wife and artist Ingeborg, supports cultural initiatives with a forward-looking approach.

In order to make urban spaces more perceptible, the foundation supports young artists, implements art installations and artfully revitalizes green spaces. Based on this goal, the idea of a “Gallery Passage” below the subway station Hammerbrook in Hamburg's City Süd, was born.

Young artists (e.g. Julia Benz and Gerrit Peters aka TASEK) have transformed the formerly gray concrete pillars beneath the Hammerbrook subway viaduct in Hamburg into vibrant works of art. The foundation realizes this colorful project in cooperation with the Ingeborg Suhr Foundation and Deutsche Bahn.
